Climate Change and Saltmarsh

Natural England have just updated their Climate Change Adaptation Manual

One of Natural England’s management aims for saltmarsh is:-

Manage recreational pressure to minimise erosion and damage to saltmarsh vegetation. Consider using sediment re-charge to reduce the rate of erosion of vulnerable areas of saltmarsh, where longshore drift of sediment has been disrupted by human activity.

ECO agrees with this... After all, the Harwich Haven development of the deep-water channel has removed 100 million cu metres of dredgings from the natural nearshore sediment supply for Essex.
